Information & services

Welcome as a resident of Karlatornet

Here you will find all the information you need as a resident with us.

Practical information

Settling-in procedures

When moving in larger furniture such as a bed/sofa, you may need to use the largest lift in the Karl Tower (lift A). The Concierge will be more than happy to help to ensure that lift A is the one that arrives when called.

Internal dimensions of the largest lift: W 140, H 230, D 247 cm. Lift door dimensions: H 210 cm, W 110 cm.

On the north side of Karlatornet there is a large turnaround area and loading bay so that you can easily move in with your furniture and belongings.

Information on keys, access control and security

In Karlatornet, tags are used to gain access to the building, common areas and personal accommodation.

To enter any of the bookable rooms, you can sign a tag at the reception when you book one of the rooms.

To increase security, Karlatornet has surveillance cameras in the lift hall and lobby. This makes it possible, if necessary, to see who has moved in and out of the tower.

Waste management and recycling

Household waste is disposed of in the waste bins on each floor in the lift lobby.

Food waste is disposed of in the rubbish chute on floor 0 inside Karlatornet.

Other fractions must be sorted and recycled at a recycling centre. The nearest recycling centre is at Polstjärnegatan 8, before the roundabout opposite Max.

Parking, car and bike

As a resident of Karlatornet, you have access to parking through the services of Karla Garage. Read more at Karla Garage. Here you will find prices for ground parking, car parks, bicycle garages etc. You can also register your interest in future parking in the garage being built under Karlastaden.

There is also a larger car park near Karlatornet on Andromedagatan provided by Gothenburg municipality.

Fire safety

Karlatornet has a fire alarm, an evacuation alarm and a comprehensive sprinkler system installed in all apartments and public areas.

IN YOUR APARTMENT

There is at least one smoke detector in the apartment that will sound an alarm if it detects smoke. If the smoke detector sounds and you know that it is due to, for example, cooking and not fire, the alarm can be silenced and paused via the yellow button on the box by the front door.

There is also a sprinkler system in the apartment that is activated by heat if there is a fire. If the sprinklers are triggered in the apartment, the evacuation alarm is also activated on the rest of the floor and the floor directly above and below.

EXPRESSION

On each floor, there are evacuation boards in the lift lobby showing your nearest way out. You exit through one of the tower's two stairwells, which are marked with green escape signs above the door. The staircases lead down to corridors with labelled escape doors that lead you to the ground floor.

If you cannot make it all the way down the stairs, you should go to one of the rescue areas on floors 12 or 38 or stay in your flat. If you need to stay in your flat, call 112 and tell them you need help.

In case of an evacuation alarm on your floor or in your flat, you should evacuate.

In the event of an evacuation alarm that does not go off on your floor or in your flat, you do not need to evacuate.

HISSAR

In the event of an evacuation alarm, the lifts will be set to fire mode. They will then descend to the ground floor and lock in the open position. Lifts A and B are rescue lifts that can be used by the emergency services to put out fires or help people in need.

Residents cannot and should not use the lifts during an evacuation alarm.

TV & broadband

All apartments have an open fibre network. This means that you are free to choose which provider you want. Karlatornet includes collective digital TV from Telia. There must be a Telia TV box in the apartment. More information on how to start up your Telia public service TV you can find here >>
